Move-in day is just around the corner! This is an exciting time for your student but it can also feel stressful and confusing. We’re here to help! Here are some best practices, tips, and resources for a smooth and memorable transition onto campus.
Has your student checked the Pre Move-In Checklist yet? Use this list to stay on track for a seamless move in experience. Ask if your student has completed priority tasks on their My ASU, set up room amenities, prepared to come to campus, and know what to bring on their move-in day.
Your student’s My ASU will contain all of the housing and move-in day details your family needs to know. Housing information, including move in date, time, mailbox assignments, address and more can be viewed under the Campus Services Tab of My ASU or in your student’s Housing Portal. Move-in information was also shared with your student in the e-welcome packet sent via email in early July. It is important to arrive at your student's scheduled time and date in order to have a smooth, cruise ship style move-in procedure. Please note, if you are moving in at Tempe, clear bags are required in Desert Financial Arena for all events. No backpacks, purses or other non-clear bags will be permitted inside the arena. Please be sure to leave these items in the car.
Early & Late Arrivals
Only students participating in an approved ASU-sponsored event or program are eligible to check into the halls early. Any students participating in an Early Arrival program will have different instructions included in the program communications. Visit the University Housing move-in website for additional information.
Cancellations & No Shows
If your student has changed their plans for Fall 2025 and will no longer be attending ASU, please email housing@asu.edu to cancel your housing assignment. Cancellation fees may apply and are outlined in the 2025-2026 Schedule of Charges and Deadlines.
Mail and Shipping Information
Mail and shipping information will be available on Aug. 1. Students at West Valley, Tempe and Polytechnic can use the USS From-Home-to-Room program to send their things. Downtown Phoenix students' information will be published Aug. 1 on their My ASU page — they can ship directly. Learn more here.

Move-In Tips
Move-in dates and times are assigned in order to ensure a quality move-in experience and decrease any traffic issues or wait times. We appreciate your assistance in adhering to your assigned move-in date and time. Following our process, arrival times, and maps will allow for a smooth experience for thousands of students and their families.
Preparing to Move
- Visit the housing move-in website and review all of the posted information
- Label all of your boxes for easy unpacking and add your students name and room number to assist with our cruise-ship style move-in
- Don’t overpack, there are many local stores to pick up last minute items. Remind your student to bring along your favorite sentimental belongings and pictures as a reminder of home
- Visit Housing Communities to view floor plans, amenities, and more
Move-in Day
- Remind your student to print out their Fast Pass and bring their student ID. Fast Passes will be sent to students 48 hours prior to move-in.
- Wear sunscreen, loose fitting clothes, sneakers, and a hat
- Take breaks indoors to keep cool, move-in day will be hot!
- Stay hydrated! Bring a reusable water bottle
- Bring snacks to keep up your energy when moving

- Enjoy the moment and engage with other families, students and ASU staff. Be sure to check out the Family Welcome events on your campus to meet with other families and get your last minute questions answered by ASU staff.
