Drive 60 miles outside Phoenix along U.S. Route 60 and you’ll find the Hassayampa River Preserve. A lush oasis in the desert, the preserve is surrounded by human activity that risks its health.

School of Molecular Sciences Assistant Professor Liza Roger and her students are working together with Maricopa County to assess the preserve. The lab’s goal is to mitigate those risks as well as navigate potential negative impacts on human health.
