Help your student be prepared for fall classes by making sure they have gone through and completed this financial aid checklist.
- Complete the 2024–2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If your student is considered a dependent student, at least one parent will also need to complete a portion of the FAFSA.
- Check Financing Tasks. Remind your student to monitor the Finances tab on My ASU for any pending tasks related to their financial aid. If your student has set up Guest Access for you, you can also view your student’s Financing Tasks through My ASU.
- Review their financial aid offer. Visit the Finances tab on My ASU to check the financial aid offer for the academic year. Your student will also get an email with their Financial Aid Notification. This offer includes a detailed breakdown of estimated expenses and available financial aid for the academic year.
- Act on loans. Your student should visit My ASU and go to the Finances tab to accept or decline loans they have been offered as soon as possible to ensure their aid is applied to their charges on time. If your student’s offer includes a Parent PLUS loan, you can learn more about the loan here.
- Enroll in direct deposit. If there are excess financial aid funds after tuition and fees are covered, the fastest way to receive them is by enrolling in direct deposit. Your student can enroll in direct deposit on the Finances tab on My ASU by clicking Direct deposit in the Tuition profile section of the page.
- Know important financial aid dates. Never miss a deadline by referencing the financial aid calendar.
