Among elite company, ASU ranks No. 20 for producing the nation’s leaders

ASU joins a host of Ivy League schools on the top 25 list of colleges and universities for producing the nation’s leaders, coming in at No. 20 ahead of Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and USC, according to a new analysis from Time.

Time and data collection provider Statista analyzed the resumés of 2,000 top leaders in the U.S. — including politicians, CEOs, union leaders, Nobel winners and more across all sectors — to assemble a ranking of the universities and colleges where they received their degrees.

In a story at Time.com, experts say one of the things that distinguishes these schools is that alumni receive more opportunities after graduation to become leaders. The diploma from these top schools signals at least two things to prospective employers: a high likelihood of intelligence and in many cases survival of a difficult admissions process, according to the Time story. In ASU’s case, through its Charter the university maintains the principle of accessibility to all students qualified to study, and engages learners of all socioeconomic, geographic and demographic backgrounds.

In addition to ASU, only six other public universities made the first 25, including the University of Michigan, UC Berkeley, University of Texas at Austin, University of Virginia, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Texas A&M. Harvard topped the list.

Check out Time’s Top 25 ranking, below, along with their Statista score for producing the nation’s leaders. Read more from Time.com here. And visit UniversityBusiness.com for another story detailing the Time ranking.
