Volunteering helps your Sun Devil build skills and gain experience while making a positive impact on the community! ASU is making getting volunteer experience fun and easy with the annual Devils in Disguise event. Your student can join a group on any campus and spend the day making a difference. If the April 1st event does not work well with your students service, there are many other ways to get valued volunteer experience!
Any volunteer experience is valuable, but it can be maximized by:
- Finding opportunities in your student's industry of interest
- Working on projects that intentionally build skills they need for future careers
- Volunteering on a consistent basis
To find volunteer opportunities, check directly with organizations of interest, or use sites like volunteermatch.org. Sun Devils local to the Phoenix area can also find opportunities at HandsOn Greater Phoenix.
Once the experience is gained, encourage your student to update their LinkedIn profiles and resumes. If they need help, Career & Professional Development Services is here to assist with helpful advising and online resources. Find out more at career.asu.edu.
